1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Barker Sporting Saloon (02)

The Rolls-Royce Phantom III was the final large pre-war Rolls-Royce. Introduced in 1936, it replaced the Phantom II and it was the only V12 Rolls-Royce until the 1998 introduction of the Silver Seraph. 727 V12 Phantom III chassis were constructed from 1936 to 1939, and many have survived. Although chassis production ceased in 1939 (with one final chassis being built in 1940), cars were still being bodied and delivered in 1940 and 1941. The very last car, though completed in 1941, was not delivered to its owner until 1947.

Der Rolls-Royce Phantom III war der letzte große Rolls-Royce vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Das Fahrzeug wurde 1936 eingeführt und ersetzte den Phantom II. Es war der einzige Rolls-Royce mit V12-Motor bis zur Einführung des Silver Seraph im Jahr 1998. Bis 1939 wurde 727 Fahrgestelle vom Phantom III gefertigt, von denen noch viele existieren.

Automobile Photographs: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (excluding Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I’ve photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "countryside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!

Beyond Central Illinois: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

Vintage Chevy Bel Air

Now for something completely different; spotted this gorgeous cherry red vintage Chevy during a trip out to the Redwood City harbor in February. Perfectly maintained; it’s owned by a Silicon Valley executive who also keeps his boat at the marina.

For some of us, it’s a glimpse of our youthful days; for others hopefully just a shiny red bit of vintage trivia.

I wonder why there is such a sense of nostalgia for cars of this era? maybe because most of us don’t actually remember the challenges of driving a car without auto transmission, keyless locking systems, GPS, air bags, anti-lock brakes, power windows, power steering, etc.

The Westpoint Marina does not appear on the satellite map yet; hopefully the satellite image will eventually be refreshed.

‘Version grand luxe – On Black’

Paul knapton and Steve Norbury racing at Brands Hatch during the second round of the 2007 side-car world championship. They finished 7th from the race. Shot taken at f/22, most of the correction was to remove all the dust from the captor !

Paul knapton and Steve Norbury participant au championnat du monde de side-car. Ils ont termine 7eme de la course. Pas tres interesse au side car mais j’aimais bien la couleur du side-car. A f/22, toutes les poussieres sur le capteur etaient visibles. Canon DPP est alors tres utile.

Misty’s 1998 Porsche 986 2.5 L Boxster in Guards Red w/Savanna Beige Leather. Car is equipped with the P84 Sport Package, M535 Motion detection security system/central unlocking/remote entry and trunk pop. Also shown with XRA 17" Sport Classic Wheels, upgraded from the P63 Porsche Sport package. Also added were X70 stainless door sills.

Some repetition in this series is due to me not carrying the camera when I saw this, shooting with the phone – then returning with the Lumix on the next day (different lighting conditions, too). Some original phone snaps weren’t bad, so I kept them. Colours also vary because of flash/no flash (although I tried to compensate by editing, didn’t have the patience to get it perfect)… Interesting cars though
